The Laflin Library Association recently presented a cultural event through the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. Smadar Shtuhl gave an interactive lecture depicting life in field hospitals as seen through the eyes of Anna Morris Holstein, a nurse and matron during the Civil War. Shtuhl, an Israel immigrant, earned her Ph.D. from Temple University in 2004. A question and answer session was held after the presentation and refreshments were served. At the event, from left: Regina Hrichison, vice president, Laflin Library Association; Dr. Leona Castor, president, Laflin Library Association; Shtuhl; Dorothy Shea Yazurlo, library program director.
