Wyoming Area (8-2)
7 p.m. today
District 2 Class 2A Semifinal
The Coaches: Lehman's Jerry Gilsky (19-12, 3rd year); Wyoming Area's Randy Spencer (29-24, 5th year)
Last Meeting: Lehman 15-14 on Sept. 14
All-Time Series: Wyoming Area leads 25-6
Quick Fact: Lehman hasn't played at Wyoming Area since the 2007 season opener.
What's At Stake: The winner plays the winner of GAR at Lakeland for the district title. Wyoming Area will host the title game if it wins. Lehman will be on the road if it wins.
Scouting Lehman: Gilsky said after a 51-6 pasting by Dallas on Saturday that he wasn't even going to show his team the film of the game. No reason to since little can be culled from the loss. The Black Knights were completely obliterated in all aspects.
Lehman trailed Wyoming Area 14-0 in the fourth quarter last time around, but pulled out a victory on a 10-yard pass from QB Bill Hillman to WB Tom Donovan and a two-point run by RB Dustin Jones with 24 seconds left. Jones had 135 yards rushing in the game, but a few opponents have slowed him down since then.
The Black Knights have lost three of their last five games.
Scouting Wyoming Area: Wyoming Area escaped with a 27-20 victory over Pittston Area last Friday. The two rivals knocked the heck out of each other, so it will be interesting if there are any residual effects on the Warriors tonight.
A key is Wyoming Area is finally healthy, unlike the first time it played Lehman. LB/FB Jeff Skursky had his time limited in the game because of an injury and OL Joe Erzar missed the game with a broken hand. QB Nick O'Brien, the school's all-time leading rusher, had a season-low 84 rushing yards in the game. RBs Zak Lanunziata and Cody Schmitz combined for eight rushes, but have been more involved since then.
What To Expect: Lehman played a hot team last week in Dallas and gets another on a roll. If the Black Knights play like they did at Dallas, this one could be over quickly.
