LUZERNE – Infrastructure and equipment financing dominated the discussions at Wednesday night's Borough Council meeting.
In December, the council approved the purchase of a new truck to be used for plowing and other purposes. The $53,000 Chevrolet model 3500 diesel truck is expected to be ready within a few weeks.
On Wednesday, the council tabled the selection of a financier as offers from Ford Motor Credit and the Luzerne National Bank are being compared. The council expects to approve funding for the truck purchase at March's regular meeting, or an earlier special meeting if necessary.
The council also approved $2,300 in computer purchases and maintenance for the year.
In other matters, council President Mike Jancuska encouraged the council's members to consider possible ways that potential grant funding might be used to improve the borough.
In response to recent notices of available grants from state Rep. Phyllis Mundy and the Pennsylvania American Water Co., the borough is looking for ways to improve a municipal parking lot that houses its rock salt storage shed.
Luzerne Borough Council will meet March 13.
