I'd like to know who the tenants were that were so understanding about the latest water line break. It sounds like bull to me because, while I certainly don't talk to everyone in the park, the ones I do talk with are fed up. This happens on a fairly regular basis and unqualified people are trying to fix the problem, which needless to say, doesn't work in the long term.

The water lines in this park are old and need to be replaced. And he needs to stop trying to pad water usages on our rent invoices to try to make up for these leaks because he won't fix the lines.

This is in regards to a statement made by businessman Amilcar Arroyo, in the Times Leader on Jan. 31 and I quote: Let me give the Republican Party some advice for the future, learn to speak Spanish

No, Mr. Arroyo, your people need to learn how to speak English. I also am in favor of sending all 11 million illegal immigrants back to the countries they came from and let them apply to enter this country legally.

When my grandparents came to this country in 1905, they did not tell the American people that they needed to learn to speak Italian. As far as I am concerned, your statement was racist.

On Thursday, Jan. 24, the city administration stated in an article that there wasn't money to rehire the furloughed firefighters nor was there a date available as to when they would be rehired.

That same evening, I attended the Wilkes-Barre City Council meeting and much to my surprise there was now money to rehire these firefighters, accompanied by a date that this action would take place as provided by the mayor.

Two and two isn't four here -- but it must be magic. From the early morning to the evening, same date -- miracles happen.
