MMI students earn math awards

Eight MMI Preparatory School students earned awards in the American Mathematics Competition 8 sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America. The competition is a 25-question, 40-minute multiple-choice examination in middle-school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. Eighth-grade student Anirban Chowdhury received a first-place award and had the top overall score for the school. He received a pin for his achievement and a certificate for placing in the top 1 percent in the nation. All award winners at MMI received certificates recognizing their performance. Susan Moyer is the math instructor and adviser for students participating in the competition. Award winners, from left: Caitlyn Kline, Chava Kornblatt and Chowdhury.
