Tammy L. Welles and John R. (J.R.) Maciolek, together with their families, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.


The bride-to-be is the daughter of Karen Yakabouski, Wilkes-Barre. She is the granddaughter of the late Joseph and Margret Danko, Wilkes-Barre.


The prospective groom is the son of John and Carol Maciolek, Wilkes-Barre. He is the grandson of the late Raymond and Jane Gulczynski, Bear Creek.


Tammy attended Riverside High School and is a 2008 graduate of the Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center Practical Nursing Program. She is employed as a licensed practical nurse by Golden Living Center-East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre. She is also pursuing her Associate in Applied Science degree in nursing at Luzerne County Community College and will graduate in May 2013.


John attended James M. Coughlin High School and is a 2011 graduate of the Lackawanna Police Academy. He is employed by Jenkins Township Police Department as a police officer.


The couple will exchange vows June 25, 2013, on a beach in Oahu, Hawaii.
