Man killed, woman injured in Salem Township crash

SALEM TWP. – A man was killed and a woman was severely injured in a two-vehicle crash this afternoon.


Township police said they responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at about 4 p.m. on state Route 11 near the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station – the nuclear power plant near Berwick.


The drivers were involved in a head-on collision, police said, with the man driving a car and the woman driving a sports utility vehicle.


The woman was flown by medical helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.


Police would not release the names of the victims pending notification of their families.


Responding were Salem Township Fire Co., Berwick Fire Department, Medics from Berwick Ambulance and Life Flight.
