Mateo is a grandson of Brenda Maurer and Andrew Kmetz, Hunlock Creek; the late Mark Maurer; Maria Rodriguez, Puerto Rico; and Luis Cruz, Philadelphia. He is a great-grandson of the late Joseph and Lorraine Polomchak. Mateo has a sister, Nia, 8.
