OMAHA, Neb. — Doug McDermott scored 30 points for No. 16 Creighton, which broke away late in the first half and beat Akron 77-61 on Sunday.
McDermott, who made a career-high six 3-pointers, also had 30 points against Wisconsin last month and on seven other occasions in his career for the Bluejays (9-1).
Gregory Echenique added nine points and seven rebounds for Creighton.
BERKELEY, Calif. — Quintrell Thomas grabbed Anthony Marshall's airball under the basket and scored on a short hook shot with 1.2 seconds remaining to lift No. 21 UNLV to a win over California.

MARTIN, Tenn. — Sam Ostarello scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half and Taylor Manuel also scored 16 as the Boilermakers rallied for the win.
LAWRENCE, Kan. — Carolyn Davis scored 24 points and the Jayhawks never trailed in a victory over Division II Newman.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Tayler Hill scored 19 points and the Buckeyes never trailed in defeating the Leopards for their 28th consecutive victory at home.
