Eastern Conference 3A Semifinal
The Coaches: Muhlenberg's Rich Kolka (17-24, 4th year); Coughlin's Ciro Cinti (40-36, 8th year)
Last Meeting: first meeting
All-Time Series: first meeting
Quick Fact: Coughlin has lost in the semifinals of the Eastern Conference in each of the last three years.
What's At Stake: The winner plays the Scranton Prep at Crestwood game for the title. Crestwood will host the game if it wins. Coughlin or Muhlenberg will host the game if Prep wins.
Scouting Muhlenberg: After a three-game losing streak started with a 21-20 loss to Governor Mifflin, the Muhls have won their last two to post their first winning regular season since 2009.
Muhlenberg is a running team. RBs Francisco German and Ben Ortiz have combined for over 1,800 yards and 22 rushing TDs. Both could go over 1,000 rushing yards for the season tonight. QB Adam Huber has had some success throwing.
Scouting Coughlin: After a week nine loss to Berwick eliminated Coughlin from district contention, it knocked Crestwood out last week with a 42-20 victory.
RB Zac Evans, who missed most of the season half vs. Berwick, rushed for career-highs of 262 yards and five touchdowns against Crestwood. QB Tim Pilch had 95 more as the Crusaders totaled a season-high 382 on the ground. DB Hunter Bednarczyk recorded his fourth interception and is one of the WVC's more reliable kickers if the game should get to that point.
What To Expect: The team that stops the other's running game and forces it to the air will likely be the winner. Should be a good one.
