Jack Davenport was chosen as the Student of the Month for October at West Side Career and Technology Center. Davenport is a junior in the automotive collision repair program. He was selected for his outstanding attributes in and out of the classroom. Davenport plans on attending college and majoring in engineering. He is the son of Jack and Kathy Davenport, Plymouth.

The Osterhout Free Library, Wilkes-Barre, received the 2012 Marietta Y. King and Alberta Walden Still Diversity Award at the Pennsylvania Library Association conference and business meeting on Oct. 2 in Gettysburg. The library received the award for its intergenerational and multicultural knit and crochet group. The award recognizes a public library that has promoted services for a diverse population of older adults. The award was presented to Elaine Stefanko, coordinator of information services at the Osterhout, by Susan Purcell, older adults outreach librarian and chair of the Older Adults Advisory Committee for the Delaware County Library System.
