Northwest (5-3) at Wyoming Area (6-2)

7 p.m.

The Coaches: Northwest's Carl Majer (34-19, 5th year); Wyoming Area's Randy Spencer (27-24, 5th year)

Last Meeting: Wyoming Area 50-17 in 2011

All-Time Series: Wyoming Area leads 2-0

Quick Fact: Wyoming Area won the two matchups by a combined score of 88-36.

Scouting Northwest: The Rangers' District 2 Class A playoff hopes all but ended with their 14-13 loss to Meyers last Friday. They'll still probably make the postseason in the Eastern Conference.

RB Tony Politz piled up 208 yards on the ground, but Northwest got very little production elsewhere. The Rangers also turned over the ball three times after having just six turnovers in their previous seven games.

The defense has been pretty solid and has recorded two interceptions in each of Northwest's last four games.

Scouting Wyoming Area: Along with Dallas, Wyoming Area is playing arguably the best football of any WVC team. The Warriors routed GAR 48-15 in a showdown game, scoring on offense, defense and special teams.

About the only thing left for QB Nick O'Brien to do is score via kick return. He's done everything else. So has RB/WR Cody Schmitz, another dangerous returner. WR Jordan Zezza snagged two TD passes versus GAR and is part of a deep skill group. The line play has been excellent recently.

What To Expect: This is a trap game for Wyoming Area, which is coming off a big win against GAR and has rival Pittston Area next week. As long as the Warriors don't take Northwest lightly, they should be fine.
