Two local legislators have been chosen to serve on their respective Game and Fisheries Committees, giving area hunters and anglers a direct voice in Harrisburg.

State Rep. Gerald Mullery, D-Newport Township, will serve on the House Game and Fisheries Committee for the second time.

Mullery, who is in his second term, is an avid hunter and supporter of the Second Amendment. He has hosted several public forums for hunters and anglers to meet with and ask questions of officials with both the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.

Joining Mullery on the committee is state Rep. Kevin Haggerty, D –Lackawanna. The freshman legislator recently announced that he will host a Youth Trap Shoot in his district this year, carrying on the tradition started by former state Rep. Ed Staback, who retired last year. The shoot will be held at the Moscow Sportsman's Club on Sept. 14.
