Pa. small retailers eye Saturday holiday sales

Across Pennsylvania and the rest of the country, thousands of little toy stores, diners and other small shops plan to offer their own discounts and promotions to attract holiday shoppers on whatâ??s become known as Small Business Saturday.
Credit and charge card company American Express says it created the day three years ago to help small businesses struggling during the recession.
But even merchants who arenâ??t taking part in the official promotion are seeking a boost with the holiday shopping season here. The broader hope is to keep luring back customers with personal service or more unique items that are less likely to be found at larger retailers.
