Patriots rout Northwest

YATESVILLE – Pittston Area raced out to a huge lead over the opening eight minutes and cruised to a 76-29 win at home against Northwest in an exhibition girls basketball contest Wednesday evening.


Mia Hopkins led the Patriot effort with 21 points, while guard Allie Barber tossed in 19 of her own. Jacqueline Rabender and Cales Owens each added eight points for Pittston Area, which went up 29-2 after the first quarter.


Northwest's Alivia Womelsdorf led all scorers with 22 points.

Crestwood started strongly and kept Nanticoke in check in the rest of the way for a win at home.


Sydney Myers and Rebecca Rutkowski each netted 16 points for the Comets.


Deanna Thomas sank two jumpers from three-point range on her way to a team-leading nine points for the Trojans.

Jessica Hiscox and Tanner Englehart scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, to lead a Mountaineers squad that put 12 players in the scoring column.


Serra Degnan's eight points led the Warriors.

Nate Siese broke free for a jumper from the foul line as time expired in overtime to give Nanticoke the win at home.


Siese finished with six points for the Trojans, while Tyler Myers led all scorers with 18 points. Mike Malshefski notched 10.


Tyler McGarry led the Patriots with 15 points, knocking down four jumpers from behind the three-point arc. James Tobisch added 14 for Pittston Area.

Abington Heights turned around a slow first half and came from behind to defeat GAR.


Down 10 at the half, the Comets held GAR to just 14 second-half points. J.C. Show led the offense with 14 points while T.J. Murray and Jason Bamford each scored 11.


Isaiah Francis scored a game-high 17 points for GAR, while Lamont Twyman tossed in 11.
