University's main campus lost it's title of best party school in this year's annual - and exhaustive - "best colleges" list from The Princeton review, compiled through extensive student surveys. Penn State did nab a spot on the "Best 373 Colleges" list, along with The University of Scranton and Marywood University.
Penn State has been on the dubious party hearty list for eight years, hitting the top last year. But it slipped to number three this year. The new bastion of higher ed Bacchanalia? University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia..
Along with making the top 373 colleges list, The University of Scranton placed sixth in the "Politics: Election? What election?" category purportedly measuring "how popular are political activist groups."
Penn State did nab first on a different list: "Students pack the stadiums," hardly a surprise considering how rabidly they fill Beaver Stadium for Nittany Lion Football games. The main campus also landed at 17th on the "happiest students list," perhaps putting the "Happy Valley" nickname for the main campus in question. Other "honors": Sixth on the "everybody plays intramural sports" list, fourth on the "best athletic facilities" list, 12th on the "lots of hard liquor" list, second on the "lots of beer" list, sixth on the "best college newspaper," and 10th in "major Frat and Sorority Scene."
All the lists - an impressive 62 this year - can be found on The Princeton Review website
