Pittston Area (3-5) at Wyoming Valley West (5-3)

7 p.m.

The Coaches: Pittston Area's Mike Barrett (6-12, 2nd year); Valley West's Pat Keating (27-14, 4th year)

Last Meeting: Valley West 37-14 in 2011

All-Time Series: Valley West leads 27-11

Quick Fact: Valley West has won the last six meetings, scoring at least 34 points in each game.

Scouting Pittston Area: Friday night resulted in another heartbreaking loss for Pittston Area as Berwick scored late for a 23-20 victory. The loss along with a two-point loss to Crestwood probably means no postseason.

Still, the Patriots have played well the past two weeks. QB James Emmett has four TD passes in that span. WR Joe Starinsky had a huge game against Berwick, catching seven passes for 177 yards and three TDs. The running game, though, experienced problems for the second time in three weeks.

Scouting Valley West: Scranton's victory over Delaware Valley ended the Spartans hopes of making the District 2/4-11 Class 4A playoffs. They are in contention for an Eastern Conference spot and two more wins could clinch at least one home game.

Valley West struggled for three quarters against one-win Hazleton Area, taking a 14-12 lead into the fourth quarter. QB Mike Baur, though, threw two touchdown passes in the fourth that led to a 42-12 victory. Baur has thrown five of his six TD passes in the last two games. WR Lucky Williams caught 144 yards worth of passes.

What To Expect: Pittston Area has run hot and cold this season, but is playing well right now. That could make things interesting if the Spartans play like the first three quarters last Friday.
