PITTSTON – City police received two reports of attempted abductions Tuesday afternoon.

Police said two male juveniles, in two separate incidents, described a purple- or maroon-colored Jeep, with a model year between 1999 and 2004 and two white men in their 20s inside who attempted to lure them into the vehicle.

The driver was described as a white male with short brown hair and a 5-o'clock shadow. The passenger was described as having long, dark brown/black hair that curled around his ears and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

The first incident occurred in the area of Butler and Church streets; the second occurred a few blocks away on Butler Street near Messra's Market.

Police are conducting extra patrols in the area and advise all parents to speak with their children and be sure to inform them never to speak to strangers or get into a vehicle with strangers.

Police urge residents to be vigilant and contact them to report any suspicious activities. Anyone with information on these two incidents is urged to call Pittston police at 654-2425.
