WILKES-BARRE – Police reported the following incidents:
• Allyson Hine reported Monday someone stole her purse from a South Washington Street residence.
• A juvenile suffered a minor injury when struck by a vehicle on Eastview Drive on Monday, police said.
Police said Steven Carujo, of Wilkes-Barre, driving a 2002 GMC, was northbound at about 5:30 p.m. when he stopped and reversed his vehicle, hitting the juvenile. Police said no citations were issued.
• A Carbondale woman suffered a minor neck injury in a two-car crash on Wilkes-Barre Boulevard near Conyngham Avenue on Monday, police said.
Police said Heather Jean Duffy, driving a 2003 Chevrolet, struck the rear of a 1999 Subaru, driven by Maryann Staub, of Pittston, at about 5 p.m. as Straub was stopped for a red traffic signal.
Police said Duffy complained of neck pain. No citations were issued.
• Dennis Mason, 36, of Bethel Lane, Wilkes-Barre, was charged Tuesday with resisting arrest, defiant trespass, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness in connection with a fight with police officers on June 6.
Police said they attempted to stop Mason, who was walking on Riverside Drive while drinking a beer. Mason fled through several yards and fought with officers when apprehended, police said.
Mason was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.
• Crystal Visneski, 32, of Noxen, is facing charges of DUI after police reported she was operating a vehicle on North Main and East Union streets while under the influence of alcohol on Monday.
• A 13-year-old girl reported that a man known to her has followed her several times around the area of Gate Street and Sterling Street. An investigation is ongoing.
• Maureen Sack, of Lehigh Street, reported Tuesday that her son Brandon Sack, 22, of Sturdevant Street, entered her home without permission. He was placed under arrest and will be charged with criminal trespass.
• Shawn Mooney, of West Wyoming, reported that someone removed a GPS system from his 2001 Volkswagen parked on West River Street on Tuesday.
• Charla Ulitchney, of North Washington Street, reported that someone removed a gas grill from her back yard on Tuesday.
• Steve Dupcavaitch, of Swoyersville, reported someone removed an AM/FM/CD player from his 1997 Dodge parked on Linden Street on Tuesday.
• Steve Lada is facing charges of DUI after police reported he was operating a vehicle on South Meade Street while under the influence of alcohol on Tuesday.
• Markia Henry, 22, of Park Avenue, was robbed at gunpoint at Sherman Hills early Tuesday morning. The first suspect is described as a man in his 20s with long black hair, who was wearing a blue hat and dark clothing. The second suspect was a bald man in his 30s wearing dark clothing. The suspects were driving a small black car with tinted windows and a spoiler on the back. Anyone with any information is asked to call 570-826- 8106
NEWPORT TWP. – Township police said they captured Richard Wayne Jackson, 37, of New Jersey, who was wanted by the Camden County Sheriff’s Department on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. Jackson was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility as a fugitive from justice and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey, township police said.
PLAINS TWP. – Andre Edwards, 19, of Main Avenue, Scranton, was arrested Monday night in connection with a fight with officers in the parking lot of the Woodlands Inn and Resort, police said.
Edwards was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.
According to arrest papers:
Police responded to the Woodlands at about 11 p.m. for a disturbance in the parking lot. Edwards was observed screaming profanities at three women.
Edwards told police he was angry because his girlfriend thought he was flirting with another woman. He was arrested after he threw car keys at the three women, police said.
Police said Edwards kicked an officer in the leg and damaged a rear window and door of a police cruiser.
NESCOPECK – A 54-year-old Third Street man who told his wife that if he goes to jail he will make sure she is in the grave when he gets out was arrested on assault charges at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, state police said.
State police said Thomas Mitchell punched his wife, Myrtle Mitchell, 49, same address, in the head several times at their residence.
He was charged with simple assault and terroristic threats.
KINGSTON – William (Billy) Layaou, 18, of Owen Street, Swoyersville, was arrested on drug charges at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday after he sold marijuana to a confidential informant on two separate occasions, police said.
Police said Layaou sold marijuana to an informant at the Kentucky Fried Chicken on Wyoming Avenue on Feb. 1 and at the Convenient Food Mart on Wyoming Avenue and Pringle Street on Feb. 3.
Layaou was arraigned before District Judge Paul Roberts on charges of delivery of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of a communication facility.
Layaou was taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.
FRANKLIN TWP. – Sherri Watkins of Dallas reported someone dumped a full box of beer cans and bottles at her property on Old Flat Rock Road between 1 a.m. and noon Saturday, then fled in an unknown direction.
