HAZLETON – Lindsey Ford, 19, of Andover Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested early Friday on charges that she spray painted graffiti on a building, police said.

Ford was charged with possession of instruments of crime, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. She was released on her own recognizance.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police found Ford and a man spray painting graffiti on a building’s wall on North Wyoming Street just before 1 a.m.

Ford and the man placed the paints in their pockets and ran away when they saw police.

Ford was captured after a short foot chase. The man was able to avoid arrest.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4 in Central Court.

LUZERNE – Sean P. Dougherty, 36, of Vaughn Street, Luzerne, was arrested on charges he assaulted a police officer and damaged a police cruiser Thursday night.

Dougherty was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, institutional vandalism, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was released on his own recognizance after his arraignment Friday morning.

According to the criminal complaint:

Swoyersville police responded to a disturbance outside Hops & Barleys on Main Street just before 11 p.m.

Police said they encountered Dougherty screaming and yelling, and shouting that he wanted to be arrested.

Dougherty continued to act disorderly despite commands by police to stop.

After police arrested Dougherty, he struck an officer and kicked the rear window of a police cruiser. Police said they sprayed Dougherty with pepper spray.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10 in Central Court.

WILKES-BARRE – Police reported the following incidents:

• John William Perrins, 42, of South Welles Street, was arrested Friday morning on charges he entered a residence on Madison Street.

Perrins was charged with criminal trespass, loitering and prowling at night and disorderly conduct. He was released on his own recognizance after his arraignment in Central Court.

According to the criminal complaint:

A woman told police she was awakened when Perrins banged on her door at about 12:20 a.m. The woman gathered her children into a room and heard Perrins attempt to push a window air conditioner inside the home.

Perrins entered the home and hid in a bedroom closet, where police found him.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10 in Central Court.

• Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred 12:12 p.m. Thursday on East North Street at North Washington Street.

Diana Machinas of Harry Street, Wilkes-Barre, was headed southbound on Washington Street when a red Jeep Cherokee driven by an unknown driver failed to stop for a red light while traveling eastbound on North Street. The unknown driver struck the right side of Machinas’ vehicle. Machinas was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Her injuries are unknown.

• Police said a person fled without paying for gasoline at Turkey Hill on South Main Street on Thursday.

• Police said a person stole items from Turkey Hill on Hazle Avenue without paying on Thursday.

• A window at Dan Flood Elementary School on North Washington Street was discovered damaged on Thursday.

• James Ward, 39, of South Sherman Street, was charged with simple assault after police said he struck his girlfriend, Naki Thomas, inside a South Sherman Street home on Thursday.

Ward was released on $7,500 bail.

• Curtis Salonick, of North Washington Street, reported Wednesday someone had spray painted graffiti at his home.

• Police said Robert Kennedy, 28, of Johnson Street, faces a harassment charge after Jordan Romanelli, of North Washington Street, reported he spat in her face on Thursday.

• Anthony Brooks, of West River Street, reported an unknown man struck him in the chest in the area of 155 W. River St. on Thursday.

• Louis Cruz, of Stanton Street, reported Wednesday someone used his identity to open a utility account.

• Police said a man exposed himself to a woman who was pushing a baby stroller in the area of 280 N. Washington St. at 10:50 a.m. Thursday.

Police described the man as being early 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 125 pounds, black hair, dark complexion wearing tan shorts with one pant leg cut longer than the other.
