PLAINS TWP. -- Rachael Macking of Wilkes-Barre reported a purse was stolen from her car while it was parked at Danko's Fitness Center on North River Street around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Macking arrived at Danko's at approximately 11:45 a.m. and when she returned to her car she found the passenger window was smashed out.
Her purse contained cash, credit cards and an inhaler.
DORRANCE TWP. – State police said 16-year-old Megan Johanssen of Mountain Top was cited after she lost control of her car and struck another car on Blytheburn Road on Sunday afternoon.
State police said Johanssen was traveling south on the road, went around a left curve too fast and struck a car driven by Barbara Guise, 73, of Mountain Top.
Both drivers reported minor injuries and were wearing seatbelts.
Both cars were towed from the scene.
State police said Johanssen was cited with driving at an unsafe speed and running out of the lane for traffic.
WILKES-BARRE – A distracted driver caused a four-vehicle chain reaction crash Saturday on state Route 309 near the ramp for Exit 1 of the North Cross Valley Expressway, police said.
According to police:
John Sepkoski of Wilkes-Barre and his passenger Carol Salvaggio of West Wyoming were traveling south on the roadway around 11:45 a.m. Sepkoski looked to his right and was distracted by an accident on the ramp.
His vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Michael Trapper of Scranton. Trapper's vehicle then struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Stephen Ross of Arlington, Va. Ross's vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Joanne Pantucci of Pittson.
Salvaggio was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township for treatment of injuries.
A passenger in Ross's vehicle, Kathryn Edwards of Arlington, Va., complained of neck pain and said she would seek medical care at a later date.
