WILKES-BARRE – City police said they charged Frederick Ceccoli III, 32, of Plains Township, on evidence of drunken driving when he was allegedly found intoxicated standing outside a disabled vehicle at Kidder and Mundy streets at 1:48 a.m. Wednesday.


An officer with the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center spotted Ceccoli standing near the vehicle that had a flat tire in the middle of the intersection.


A single count of driving under the influence of alcohol was filed against Ceccoli with District Judge Martin Kane in Wilkes-Barre.


ASHLEY – Police said they arrested one person and expect to charge two more people after drugs were found during a traffic stop on Main Street early Monday morning.


Police said they stopped a 2002 Ford Taurus at about 2 a.m. and detected an odor of marijuana.


Malik Jarmain Macon, 20, of Nanticoke, was allegedly found hiding cocaine in his shoe, police said.


Police said three bags containing marijuana were recovered from the vehicle.


Macon was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released after posting $5,000 bail.


A 19-year-old man from Wilkes-Barre and a 21-year-old man from Philadelphia are expected to be charged as the investigation is continuing, police said.


HANOVER TWP. – Township police reported the following:


• Andrea Kotulski, of Hanover Village, reported a burglary at her residence on Wednesday. A daily planner, a cellphone and other items were stolen.


• Justin Ashford, of Swoyersville, reported Wednesday an MP3 player, a camouflage backpack, a multi-tool, assorted winter clothing and $24 were stolen from his vehicle when it was parked on West Newport Street.


• William Talmon, of Ashley, reported Wednesday the rear passenger side window on his vehicle was smashed when it was parked in the 500 block of Hanover Village.


KINGSTON – John Paul Arnsperger, 41, of Susquehanna Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arraigned Thursday on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.


Police allege Arnsperger assaulted his girlfriend at a residence on Sharpe Street at about 1 a.m. Thursday.


The woman was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.


A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Dec. 12.


WILKES-BARRE TWP. – Township police reported the following:


• Kimberly Branas, 39, of Wilkes-Barre, was cited Tuesday with retail theft when she allegedly left Walmart without paying $199 in merchandise. She was also cited with defiant trespass and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.


• Stephanie Clisham reported Wednesday the passenger side window was smashed on her vehicle when it was parked near Petco in Wilkes-Barre Township Commons. A wallet and a Magellan GPS were stolen from the vehicle.


• Tamra Fidati reported Wednesday the passenger window was smashed on her vehicle when it was parked near the Blackman Street Carwash on Blackman Street. A purse was stolen from the vehicle.


WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:


• Police said identification cards and a Sony camera were stolen during a burglary on Elizabeth Street. A 31-year-old woman reported the burglary on Thursday.


• Two tires were stolen from a parked vehicle and were replaced with a flat tire and a doughnut spare tire in the 100 block of Barney Street Wednesday night into Tuesday morning.


• A window was smashed on a van in the 100 block of Prospect Street, and a Dewalt electric hammer drill, a Milwaukee ½ inch drill, a cordless drill set and various hand tools were reported stolen on Wednesday.


• Police said Matthew Rose, of Mountain Top, was charged after he was confronted by a witness breaking into a vehicle in the area of 393 N. Pennsylvania Ave. at 2:15 a.m. Thursday.


Police said the witness was attacked by Rose with a screwdriver. Rose ran away and was apprehended when he was found hiding behind a dumpster.


Rose was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and criminal attempt to commit theft from a vehicle.
