Police investigate attempted abduction in Pittston

PITTSTON - Police are investigating an attempted child abduction this afternoon in the 100 block of Broad Street.
John Cheek tried to get an 11-year-old boy into his car around 3:30 p.m., police said. Cheek got out his car and further tried to persuade the boy to get in, police said. The boy ran home to his mother and police were notified.
Cheek was driving a four-door, 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier with Pennsylvania license plate JCN 1846.
Anyone with information about Cheek is asked to contact Pittston police at 570 654-2424 or Luzerne County 911.
