WILKES-BARRE – City police closed West North Street for about 20 minutes Friday afternoon to reconstruct the hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of 5-year-old Kevin Miller on Dec. 21.

Water and rock salt were poured onto the road by the city's Department of Public Works. A trooper with state police coordinated the location of where the water was poured and the spreading of rock salt from the intersection of North Franklin Street to North Main Street.

Miller, of Dallas, was struck by what investigators said was a red Pontiac Grand Am as he crossed the road holding his father's hand.

Investigators impounded a red Pontiac Grand Am from a residence on Mack Street, Plains Township, on Jan. 4.

Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis identified Tom Letteer Jr., 22, as a person of interest in the case. No charges have been filed.

Several search warrants have been filed and accident reconstructions have been performed in recent weeks.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, N.Y., more than one inch of rain and a half-inch of snow fell on Dec. 21, which would have resulted in West North Street being wet the night Miller was struck.
