A technical issue that prevented food stamp recipients from using their electronic cards to make purchases this morning has been resolved, according to the state Department of Public Welfare.

Anne Bale, spokeswoman for the department, said JP Morgan Bank, the vendor that handles the Electronic Benefit Cards for the state, had an issue with its processing system.

The issue caused cards in 10 states, including Pennsylvania, to be declined. The problem was resolved this afternoon and the cards can now be used, a spokesperson for JP Morgan said.
