GREENTOWN ‚?? Holy Redeemer claimed its first district golf championship on Friday defeating Dunmore, 312-347 at Paupack Hills Golf and Country Club.

In previous years, the Royals couldn‚??t get past a tough Scranton Prep squad. But on Friday, the Royals avoided the Cavaliers, who won the District 2 Class 3A title over Coughlin.

Redeemer claimed the District 2 Class 2A championship led by Mariano Medico‚??s 73. Chase Makowski fired a 77. Matt Slavoski‚??s 81 and Ryan Crossin‚??s 83 rounded out the scored for Holy Redeemer, which became the first Wyoming Valley Conference team to claim a district title since Wyoming Seminary in 2000.

Up next for the Royals is a match with Danville on Oct. 12 at Fox Hill Country Club in the first round of regional play.
