That didn't take long.

Andy Reid is very close to becoming the next coach of the Cardinals, so close that one NFL source said that a deal was essentially done.

There are several others reports that Reid landing in Arizona is a near certainty and could be finalized by the end of the week, though the Associated Press reports the team had not scheduled an interview.

The Eagles fired Reid, 54, on Monday after a 4-12 season. Reid has not spoken publicly since the Eagles decided to let him go. He had one year left on his contract.

A message left with Reid was not returned.

If Reid ends up with the Cardinals it would reunite him with Kevin Kolb. The Eagles traded the quarterback to Arizona in July 2011 for cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round pick.

Kolb has suffered a series of injuries in two seasons in Arizona

The Cardinals fired coach Ken Whisenhunt and general manager Rod Graves on Monday. The openings could allow Reid to come in and have the same responsibilities he had with the Eagles -- head coach and vice president of football operations.

It is also worth noting the Cardinals are scheduled to face the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field during the 2013 season.
