Mrs. Rita Langan, former resident of the Washington Square Apartments and more recently a resident of Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Little Flower Manor.
Rita and her husband, William G., lived in Dunmore and Scranton for more than 60 years. William died Jan. 7, 2003.
Born in Archbald, April 5, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anne Daley and was a graduate of Archbald High School. On Nov. 30, 1938, she and William were married in St. Thomas Aquinas R.C. Church, Archbald. Rita retired from Marywood College in 1985 where she had worked as a manager of the college bookstore for more than 25 years. She was a member of St. Nicholas R.C. Church, Wilkes-Barre, and a former member of St. Paul's Church, Scranton.
Rita was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth, Mary, Anna, Geraldine, Catherine and Marjorie.
She is survived by a son, Joseph W. and his wife, Carolyn, Wilkes-Barre; grandsons, Kevin and his wife, Lori, Yorktown, Va.; Keith, Wilkes-Barre; great-granddaughters, Brenna and Lindsay Langan; brother, Joseph Roger Daley, Archbald; several nieces and nephews.
The family gives special thanks to the staff of Little Flower Manor, especially the nurses and aides on the second floor, who cared for Rita for the last five years. They were indeed her extended family.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. from Little Flower Manor, 200 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call from noon until the time of services. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Employee Planning Committee of Little Flower Manor. Arrangements are by Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre.
