The Dallas Lions Club hosted a joint meeting of the service clubs in the Back Mountain at a dinner meeting held at Appletree Terrace, Newberry Estates. State Senator Lisa Baker was the guest speaker for the affair. Baker, a graduate of Dallas High School and Shippensburg University, reminisced about her high school days and gave a comprehensive report on what is happening in Harrisburg. The discussion included the Marcellus Shale pipelines and her work with the Veterans Affairs Committee. Other topics discussed were transportation funding, property taxes versus sales and personal taxes, public education funding and the high cost of pensions in the public sector. At the event, from left: Tom Shina, president, Harveys Lake Lions; Joseph Czarnecki, event chairman and president, Dallas Lions; Baker; Lloyd Rymond, president, Dallas Kiwanis; and Janet Swanger, president, Lake Silkworth Lions.
