Nanticoke- Senator John Yudichak (D-Luzerne/Carbon/Monroe) has announced his full support of legislation proposed yesterday by Senator Jake Corman (R-34th District).
The legislation to be introduced in January will direct the $60 million fine levied against Penn State University by the NCAA to Pennsylvania child sexual abuse prevention programs.
I support Senator Corman's proposal that the fines to be paid by Penn State should stay in Pennsylvania and benefit our children and the organizations that work to prevent sexual abuse, said Yudichak. The Task Force on Child Protection recommendations provide us with a pathway to direct the funds to further support the protection of our children.
I disagree with the way the NCAA has handled this matter from the very beginning and to not have the fines directly benefit Pennsylvania children only adds insult to injury, he concluded.
Senator Yudichak serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee that Corman chairs. Both men are Penn State alumni.
