Two sophomores from Lackawanna Trail High School were chosen to attend the state HOBY Conference at Shippensburg University May 16-19. HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership) Conferences are held annually throughout the United States. A sophomore student from each school is nominated by the guidance office along with an alternate. HOBY was established by veteran actor Hugh O'Brian following a visit to Africa where he was inspired by Dr. Albert Schweitzer.
Students were chosen for their outstanding oral or written communication skills, critical and/or creative thinking, sensitivity to the needs or concerns of others, courage to speak out for one's beliefs and community service.
