WRIGHT TWP. – A township man surrendered Wednesday on charges he sexually assaulted two girls known to him for six years.
David Troy Zarn, 46, of Yorktown Road, was accompanied by his attorney, Michael Sklarosky, when he was arraigned by District Judge Ronald Swank on four counts each of aggravated indecent assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and two counts each of child endangerment and corruption of minors.
Zarn was released after he posted $50,000 bail.
He had no comment as he walked away from district court with his wife, Jennifer Zarn.
Township police and Luzerne County detectives filed charges after interviewing the two girls, 16 and 14 years old, in early October.
The mother of the elder teen's boyfriend contacted authorities after learning of text messages the girl had sent to her son about allegedly being assaulted by Zarn.
These are very serious charges, Detective Charles Balogh said. We have to commend the two victims who came forward. It's not easy to do.
Balogh said the investigation is continuing. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Oct. 31.
