The Burkes

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Burke, Nanticoke, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Dec. 3, 2012. They were married in the First Presbyterian Church by the late Dr. Jule Ayers. Maid of honor and best man were the late Margaret Kresge Eckert and Donald Eckert.

Mrs. Burke is the former Vera J. Kresge. She is a graduate of Wilkes-Barre School of Practical Nursing, where she earned her licensed practical nursing degree. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Owens-Illinois/Techneglas as an insurance representative for over 25 years. She enjoys crocheting lapghans for local nursing homes and spending the winter months in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Mr. Burke is a graduate of Penn State University. He was employed by Owens-Illinois/Techneglas as an electronics specialist for 35 years until the plant closure. He is employed by Mactac, Moosic, as an industrial electrician.

They are the parents of Richard Garmize, Harding, and the grandparents of Richard Garmize, Dallas.

The couple celebrated their anniversary with a trip to Gaylord Opryland Resort, Nashville, Tenn.
