Thelma (Thomas) King, 86, went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.
She was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre; she was one of 10 children of the late Joseph and Rose Thomas.
She graduated from GAR High School in Wilkes-Barre.
Thelma had resided in Bensalem for almost 40 years. She retired from the IRS as a section chief.
Thelma was a devout Catholic and a strong believer in the power of prayer. She loved traveling and going to the casinos with her husband, Jerry. They spent many days walking the Cape May beach, often sharing this special trip with their nephew and niece who they treated as their own.
Thelma's appearance belied her age; her Oil of Olay complexion was enviable. Thelma had a passion for sharing relaxed meals with her husband and family. She kept an impeccable home and had a great sense of decorating style; she was generous and welcoming. Thelma adored her great nephews and niece. She was loved and will be missed by many.
Thelma was the beloved wife for 45 years of Jerry King, loving aunt of Gene McGuire, her godson, and his wife, Kim, and Molly Spanarkel and her husband, Jerry; and grandmother of the heart of Shea, Allison, Drew and Chase. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
Relatives and friends will be received by the family at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1200 Park Ave., Bensalem, followed by the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
