(AP) Authorities say David Oliver Relin, the coauthor of the best selling novel Three Cups of Tea, has died in Oregon at age 49.
Deputy Multnomah County Medical examiner Peter Bellant says Relin committed suicide on Nov. 14.
He says Relin died of blunt force head injury in the community of Corbett, near Portland, but he did not provide further details.
Relin was coauthor with Greg Mortenson of the acclaimed novel Three Cups of Tea, which recount how Mortenson started building schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The book came under scrutiny last year when 60 Minutes and Jon Krakauer alleged that it contained numerous fabrications.
Earlier this year, a district court dismissed a lawsuit that alleged that the coauthors along with their publisher and a charity lied to boost sales and donations.
