Tough road for Monarchs as Albright romps 41-10

READING – Scott Pillar caught five passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns as the host Albright College football team posted a 41-10 victory over King's College in a Middle Atlantic Conference matchup Saturday at Shirk Stadium in Reading.


Scores for the Monarchs (1-6, 1-5 MAC) included a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Tyler Hartranft and a 38-yard field goal by Kevin Mulvihill.


Albright (5-2, 4-2) had two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters to storm out to a 41-0 lead.


The final Albright score came on a fumble recovery. Hartranft attempted to avoided a sack in the end zone and collided with running back Kyle McGrath. The ball popped loose and Albright lineman Matt Pattison recovered the fumble in the end zone for a Lions score with 3:19 left in the third quarter.


King's scored twice in 5:20 of the fourth quarter Hartranft's TD run was set up by a 54-yard pass from Hartranft to Adam Kudlacik.


King's defense came through with turnover on the next possession when Anthony Martuccio picked off a pass, giving King's possession at the Albright 37. King's got a 39-yard field goal by Mulvihill to cut the lead to 41-10 with 9:34 remaining for the final score of the game.


For King's, McGrath rushed for 77 yards on 15 carries and added three receptions for 28 yards while Hartrant completed 12-of-22 passes for 153 yards and an interception. Kempa led the receivers with three catches for 41 yards. Defensively for King's, Ryan Cordingly and Ryan Kelly each posted a team-high seven tackles while Martuccio had six stops with an interception.
