Members of the Lackawanna Trail School District community once again banded together for Pink Paw for a Cause.

This year, a check for $8,530 was presented to the American Cancer Society. T-shirt sales, basket raffles and a dance were held at the elementary center. Since its inception, the fundraiser has collected more than $30,000 in funds.

The elementary effort was led by educator and cancer survivor Lois Foley and Desiree Gallagher. Three seniors: Colleen Brace, Tori Ellsworth and Emily Huffsmith, sold T-shirts at the high school and painted hair pink at the elementary center as part of their senior project. Eighth grader Grace Gallagher dedicated time to the fundraiser that she helped begin approximately five years ago.
