Wilkes-Barre Area School District is investigating allegations a contracted bus driver made an “inappropriate comment” to an elementary school student.
Anonymous calls to The Times Leader said it was a racial slur, but District Interim Superintendent Bernard Prevuznak would not confirm that. Prevuznak said “there is an investigation under way regarding accusations concerning inappropriate comments by a bus driver,” and that he could not comment further until the investigation is complete.
Prevuznak said he received a call about the allegation Thursday evening. He said does not believe there was a camera on the bus, so there would be no security footage to review.
The district contracts all bus service to Williams Bus Lines. The district had retained some bus service in-house until this year, but opted to eliminated those positions and sell the remaining vehicles to save money.
