WEST WYOMING – Money might be available to pave the entire length of West Brady Street if every resident participates in an income survey, council President Eileen Cipriani said Monday.

The borough is eligible to receive $120,000 through a state Community Development Block Grant, which benefits low- to moderate-income areas of municipalities. For the grant application to be approved, an income survey must be taken on every resident living in the area of the proposed project.

There are a little more than 50 homes on West Brady Street, and income surveys have been completed on all but five residences, Cipriani said. Residents in two of those households declined to participate, and three haven't responded yet, she said.

To be eligible for the grant, at least 51 percent of the households in a project area must have an income less than $36,500, Cipriani said.

We sent letters out and followed up with phone calls. We don't need names, and it's all confidential.

Municipalities can apply for the grant every three years, Cipriani said, pointing out that Holden Street was paved with funds from the same grant three years ago.

In other business, council announced:

An executive session took place Feb. 4 to discuss personnel issues.

A bulk pickup will take place on Monday April 8. Each household is allowed two bulk items. For more information, contact the municipal office.

Hose Company No. 1 on Shoemaker Avenue will sell pizza every Friday during Lent from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, call (570) 693-1811.
