WILKES-BARRE – Comcast and Verizon Wireless have teamed up to sell each other's services to customers in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The partnership grew out of Verizon's $3.6 billion purchase earlier this year of unused wireless spectrum controlled by Comcast and three other cable companies. The acquisition allowed Verizon to expand its 4G network.

As a result Verizon and Comcast have been able to offer bundles of cable, wireless and landline services.

The companies offered incentives such as prepaid Visa card up to $300, six months free usage of a Comcast HD DVR and a complimentary 12-month upgrade to Blast! Xfinity high-speed Internet service.

Wilkes-Barre residents cannot participate, however, because Comcast is not available in the city. To be eligible customers have to be in an area served by Comcast and Verizon Wireless.

Pennsylvania is among the 13 states where the companies are extending their partnership. They have already introduced their plan in 21 states.

The plans can be purchased by phoning Comcast at 855-704-7400 or visiting local Verizon stores at:

• Wyoming Valley Mall, Wilkes-Barre Township

• Viewmont Mall, Dickson City.
