What's At Stake: The winner will play District 12 champion Imhotep Charter (13-0) in the quarterfinals. The winner will also likely have the game played within its district.

THE COACHES



Wyoming Area's Randy Spencer



(31-24, 5th year)


Spencer is a former Wyoming Area player who graduated in 1988. He was an assistant coach at his alma mater for 16 years. He was named head coach in Feb. 2008 when Paul Marranca resigned after his second stint and 27 years as the head coach.



Pen Argyl's Paul Reduzzi



(119-73, 18th year)



Reduzzi is in his sixth season as the Green Knights' coach. After posting three consecutive losing seasons, Pen Argyl has won at least nine games each year under Reduzzi since then.


Prior to coming to Pen Argyl, Reduzzi was the head coach at two high schools in New Jersey, spending six years at each.


 



STATE PLAYOFF HISTORY



Wyoming Area (0-2): The Warriors last appeared in the state playoffs in 2003 in the Class 3A bracket. They lost in the first round to District 1's Strath Haven 49-0. Strath Haven featured future Penn State and current NFL linebacker Dan Connor and advanced to the semifinals where it lost 3-0 to eventual state champion Manheim Township.


Wyoming Area also played in the Class 2A state playoffs in 1998, losing to D4 and eventual state champion Mount Carmel 47-6 in the first round.



Pen Argyl (3-2): The Green Knights defeated D2 champion GAR 50-20 in the Class 2A first round last year. Their season ended in the quarterfinals with a 32-7 loss to D12 Philadelphia West Catholic, which was eliminated in the semifinals.


Pen Argyl advanced to the Class 2A state championship game in 2001, losing to D7's Washington 19-12 for the title. The Green Knights posted state victories of 35-14 over Wyomissing and 13-12 over St. Pius X in the earlier rounds.
