EXETER – Wyoming Area School Board President Frank Casarella looked back on the accomplishments of the board in the past year, during the board's regular meeting Tuesday night.
Casarella included the renovation of Montgomery Avenue Elementary School, implementation of an anti-nepotism policy and refinancing of a PNC bond and a reduction in expenditures, saving the district $1.3 million.
In another matter, Superintendent Raymond Bernardi lauded students for their participation in the district's annual veterans' recognition program. Bernardi congratulated Bayli Grossi and Cassidy Orzel, Tenth Street Elementary students, who presented their winning essays at the event.
The board unanimously approved a motion allowing junior Austin Shission to collect school supplies at district schools for students in Nicaragua. Shission, who participated in a mission trip this year, will be returning to Nicaragua in February to help distribute the supplies.
