PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Scranton/Wilkes-Barre used a barrage of home runs to help record an 8-5 victory over Pawtucket on Friday at McCoy Stadium.
Corban Joseph, Darnell McDonald, Ramiro Pena and Melky Mesa each had home runs, which accounted for four of the Yankees' eight hits.
Joseph started the slugfest with a solo shot to right field to give the Yankees an early 1-0 lead. Pawtucket answered in the top of the third when Jonathon Hee singled to left field to tie the game at 1.
Joseph recorded his second RBI of the game on a double in the bottom of the third to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead. Pawtucket again answered in the top of the fourth when J.C. Linares hit an RBI single to right field to tie the game at 2.
McDonald helped the Yankees take the lead for good with a three-run homer to left field in the bottom of the fourth. It was his second home run as a Yankee, with both coming against his former organization.
Pena extended the Yankees' lead in the bottom of the seventh with a home run to right field.
Mesa hit the Yankees' fourth home run of the game in the bottom of the eighth to give the Yankees an 8-2 lead.
Adam Warren earned the victory on the mound for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre while Zach Stewart was credited for the loss for Pawtucket.
The Yankees will travel to Rochester on Saturday to face off against the Red Wings at 7:05 p.m. The Yankees are three games ahead of Pawtucket and four ahead of Lehigh Valley in the IL North Division with 16 games remaining in the season.
