PennDOT's March 18 schedule

PennDOT announced that the following work will be taking place on March 18:

Interstate 81

-Exit 191A (Dickson City-Viewmont Mall): Northbound & Southbound re-decking of the bridge over Business Route 6. Work has begun. On Tuesday (3/17), between 7pm and 6am, traffic will be switched on I-81. Watch for single lane restriction in both directions of the bridge. The temporary concrete traffic barrier will be moved, expanding the already-closed center lanes of the bridge.  The Southbound I-81 on-ramp accessible from Route 6 West will be closed Tuesday (3/17), and will reopen approximately September 2009. The DETOUR for I-81 SB: Follow Route 6 under the bridge and through Chinchilla to Business Route 6 & 11 to the turnpike entrance in Clarks Summit to I-81 SB.

-Exit 182: Montage Mtn. Road. Work has begun on the widening project on the I-81, Exit 182 Ramp B to Glenmaura Loop Road. Project will turn three lanes to five lanes. Limited restrictions at this point of the project as most of the work will occur in the shoulder. Accommodations will be provided to alleviate interstate ramp backups.  Work is Mondays through Thursdays, 7am to 5pm. Some Friday work possible.  Completion Summer 2009. Leeward Construction was awarded the project with a bid of $789,570.81.

-Exits 178-182: Northbound. Luzerne & Lackawanna counties.  Tuesday (3/17)  Pothole patching in the SB lanes from 9AM to NOON. Alternating single lane. EXPECT DELAYS. Wednesday (3/18). Rolling road blocks in the NB lanes from 8:30am to 2:30PM to enable contractor to remove debris from worksite. EXPECT DELAYS. TRAFFIC FOR THE MOOSIC EXIT USES THE NEW CROSSOVER WHICH BEGINS 1/2 MILE BEFORE THE CURRENT EXIT. IF MOTORISTS MISS THE NEW OFF-RAMP, THE DETOUR SIGNS AT THE DAVIS STREET OFF-RAMP WILL DIRECT THEM.  Bridge rehabilitation project is between Exit 178A (Avoca) and Exit 180 (Moosic). NORTHBOUND work is between mile 174 (Exit 170B Wilkes-Barre) and mile 181 (Exit 182 Davis St. /Montage Mountain Rd.). The crossover bridges will provide temporary roadways to handle traffic while two Luzerne County bridges and one Lackawanna County bridge are re-decked and rehabilitated. Two lanes will be maintained in each direction. Anticipated completion late summer 2009.  MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO DRIVE SLOWLY AND SAFELY AND WATCH FOR DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE. BE AWARE AS OTHERS ADAPT TO THE CHANGES IN TRAFFIC PATTERNS, AND BE ON THE ALERT FOR CONSTRUCTION PERSONNEL AND VEHICLES.

-Exits 170-182: Bridge rehabilitation and deck replacement work on two structures in Laflin Borough, Luzerne County, and one structure in Moosic Borough in Lackawanna County, continues. Anticipated completion is Fall 2010. Two lanes of travel will be maintained throughout the work. Lane closures will occur at night. Work will continue behind barriers over winter.

-Exits 165-178: Luzerne County. Patching Tuesday 3/17 Northbound, between Exit 165 Mt. Top and Exit 178 Avoca, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.  Alternating lane restrictions.       

Interstate 84

-Exits 2 to 4: Eastbound & Westbound work continues behind barrier through summer between Exit 2 (Elmhurst) and Exit 4 (I-380 split), Lackawanna County, to repair a drainage pipe under the roadway. Traffic is not impacted.

Interstate 380

-Exits 20-24: NORTHBOUND. Bridge rehabilitation between Exits 20 (Daleville) and 24 (Scranton/Milford).  Interstate 380 NB/SB. Work has resumed on the parapet demolition of a bridge on Dorantown Rd in Covington Twp. which crosses over I-380 at approx. Mile Post 19 near the Daleville Exit.  Drivers Alert: Periodic lane closures. Minor traffic impact is expected and lane closure alerts will be issued as they occur. Anticipated completion May 2009.

-Exits 13-24: Westbound, Lackawanna County. Crews will remove pavement cores between mile parkers 19.6 and 23.4, Exits 13 (Gouldsboro) and 24 (Scranton/Milford)between 8 AM and 2:30 pm on Wednesday (3/18) and Thursday (3/19).  DRIVERS ALERT: The passing lane and part of the travel lane will be restricted. Traffic will move to the travel lane and shoulder.

Non-interstate roadwork
 
-U.S. Route 6 Gov. Robert P. Casey Highway, Lackawanna County: Linepainting scheduled Tuesday (3/17) EASTBOUND. Alternating lane closures 8am to 2pm. Painting the Westbound direction of the Casey on Friday, (3/20).

When is PenDot going to do something with Huntsville Road from Dallas to Huntsville Dam or are they waiting for someone to be involved in a head-on collision dodging potholes that will take you out in a heartbeat???????
