The A Team, Marcus Welby, MD, and Magnum P.I – just a few of the shows that will premier on the Retro Television Network (RTV) on WNEP2 starting Monday, November 9.
WNEP’s sister station WNEP2 will continue to air two hours of live news every morning from 7 to 9 a.m. But after the morning news crew signs off, a full day of old favorites begins.
"Our sister station WNEP2 is evolving into a place for great alternative programming," said WNEP President and General Manager Chuck Morgan. "We're already producing two additional hours of live news from 7 to 9 weekdays. Now we're adding all the old favorites like Kojak and The Incredible Hulk that we think our viewers will really love to watch. We're committed to making this station a destination for local news specials, sporting events and other local programming. It's the beginning of an exciting new time."
Morgan said WNEP2 will retain the “squeeze back” box for programming, with live Stormtracker 16 Realtime Doppler Radar in the lower left of the screen. Public Service Bulletin Board messages, Happy Birthday 2 You greetings and weather forecast information show on the bottom right.
“We think it’s the best of both worlds,” said Morgan. “Our viewers really love being able to see the live radar whenever they want. Now, they’ll also be able to watch some of their old favorites too.”
WNEP programming like "Home & Backyard Classics" and "Pennsylvania Outdoor Life Reloaded " - vintage episodes of the original shows - fit right into the “Retro” format. And replays of "Inside Edition and Frasier "will air weeknights at 10 and 10:30 p.m. respectively.
“There’s a children’s block on Saturday mornings” said Morgan, “and a fun, Uncle Ted’s Ghoul School-type show called 'Midnight Monster Hop' that runs on Saturday nights.”
But it’s not all re-runs. A one-hour morning news/talk show called Daytime will air weekdays at 9 a.m. right after Newswatch 16 This Morning, hosted by Cyndi Edwards, Dave Nemeth and Lindsay MacDonald. Edwards may be familiar to some as the former host of “Your Morning on CN8” in
WNEP2 can be found on most cable systems and over the air on 16.2. Most satellite customers can add WNEP2 to their line-up with the addition of an antenna.
