Crestwood boys tennis slips past Tunkhannock, 3-2

Crestwood’s Zach Anderson and Sam Madjic pulled out a tight first set at first doubles and went on to win, helping the Comets edge Tunkhannock 3-2 on Thursday in boys tennis play.

Noah Kulp and Scott Mangan also picked up a doubles win while Sachin Patel prevailed at No. 3 singles.

The Tigers got singles wins from Luke Straley and Avery Newhart.

Wyoming Seminary 5,

Wyoming Valley West 0

The Blue Knights took each match in straight sets, led by Eamon Gibbons at first singles, who won without dropping a game.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Tunkhannock 3,

Hanover Area 0

Evan Turner (seven aces, five kills, two blocks), Max Hardy (10 assists, two digs, two aces) and Logan Dickson (nine digs, two aces) helped the Tigers earn a 25-10, 25-16, 25-19 win.

The Hawkeyes were led by Mike Yaple (one service point, one ace, one kill, three digs), Will Kauffman (three kills, one block) and Korey Turner (four service points, one kill, three digs, two blocks).

Wyoming Valley West 3,

Coughlin 0

The Spartans earned a 25-7, 25-6, 25-9 sweep on the road. Adam McCue (27 service points, three kills, three digs, seven aces), Kevin Fegal (16 assists, 12 service points) and Tyler Kleinbach (five kills, two blocks) topped Valley West.

Contributing for Coughlin were Joe Gayton (one assist, two digs, one ace), Derek Whitesell (two kills, three digs) and Eric Javick (one kill, two blocks, two aces).

North Pocono 3, Dallas 0

Danny Harpersberger (10 kills, nine digs), Corbin Thompson (nine digs, three kills) and Caleb Hill (15 assists) led the Mountaineers in a 25-9, 25-16, 25-18 loss.

James Ildefonso had a match-high 12 kills for North Pocono. Nick Bedard (four kills, seven digs, 12 service points), Colin Coles (six kills, three aces, 20 service points), Jonathan Haikes (23 assists) and Vincent Wojnar (six kills, 15 digs) chipped in.

SOFTBALL

Berwick 13, Hanover Area 3

Brooke Stout finished with five RBI and hit two of the Bulldogs’ four home runs in a six-inning exhibition win. Sammi Starr and Kylie Levan also homered, with Levan getting the win in the circle.
