Jessica Szumski and Matthew Lawrence Nice were united in marriage

Jessica Szumski and Matthew Lawrence Nice were united in marriage May 21, 2016 at Sacred Heart of Jesus, Dupont, by the Rev. Joseph Verespy.

The bride is the daughter of John and Janice Evanchick and the late Karol Szumski, Dupont. Jessica is the granddaughter of Joseph and the late Blanche Pisano and the late Chester and Evelyn Szumski.

The groom is the son of Lawrence Nice, Swoyersville; and Lorraine Young, Shavertown. He is the grandson of the late Peter and Theresa Dokas.

The bride, escorted by her mother, chose her sister, Renee Frank, as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Nicole Mayerski, cousin of the bride; Kathryn Spencer, sister of the groom; Samantha Sorokas and Marissa Cirrilla, friends of the bride. Mallory Frank, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

The groom chose his friend, Ryan Rogers, as his best man. Groomsmen were William Grabinski and Matthew Blendick, friends of the groom; James DiFebo, cousin of the groom; and Christopher Milewski, cousin of the bride. Robert and John Klemish, cousins of the bride, were ring bearers.

Emily, Sean Jr. and Ethan Spencer, niece and nephews of the groom, were program attendants. Brian Frank, brother-in-law of the bride; and Allison DiFebo, cousin of the groom; gave readings at the ceremony.

An evening cocktail hour and reception, given by the parents of the bride, were held at Colarusso’s La Palazzo, Moosic. The rehearsal dinner, held at Kevin’s Bar and Restaurant, Kingston, was hosted by the groom’s mother. A bridal shower, hosted by the mother of the bride, was held at Arcaro & Genell’s, Old Forge.

Jessica is a graduate of Pittston Area High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Misericordia University. She also earned a Master of Science degree in counselor education from Marywood University in 2015. She is currently employed as an outpatient therapist at Mercy Behavioral Health, Pittsburgh.

Matthew is a graduate of Hanover Area Jr/Sr High School and a 2012 graduate of King’s College where he earned Bachelor of Art degrees in psychology and sociology. He earned a Master of Science degree in counselor education from Marywood University in 2015. He is currently employed as a school based therapist at Glade Run Lutheran Services, Pittsburgh and is attending Duquesne University for a Ph.D degree in counselor education and supervision.

The couple honeymooned in Mexico. They reside in Pittsburgh.
