Mary Kathleen Conlon and Brian Michael Johnson were united in marriage July 2, 2016, in St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin. The ceremony was performed by Reverend James Paisley.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Maureen Conlon, Sr., of Inkerman. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Long, Sr., Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. James Conlon and the late Mr. James Conlon, Jr., Inkerman.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Cathy Johnson of Eynon, Pennsylvania. He is the grandson of Mr. Clifford D. Johnson and the late Mrs. Nancy Johnson, Archbald; and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Drutarovsky, Jessup.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Casablanca gown featuring a cathedral length train accented with a cathedral length veil.
The bride chose her best friend, Nikki Wesley, as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Katie O’Boyle, Kelly Conlon, Megan Conlon, cousins of the bride; Christine Marley, Courtney Baro, and Alicia Capazzi, all friends of the bride. Molly Fetchko, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.
Elena Anderson, niece of the groom, and Julia Long, cousin of the bride, were flower girls.
The groom chose his closest friend, Jeffrey Baka, as his best man. Groomsmen were William Conlon, Jr. and Michael Conlon, brothers of the bride; Greg Castelli, Ken Bedi, Randy Gowat and Peter Mackar, friends of the groom.
Scriptual readings were given by Melissa Anderson and Nicole Moore, sisters of the groom; and Kellie Cavanuagh, friend of the bride. Offertory gifts were presented by Maureen Conlon Fetchko and Joseph Long, Jr., godparents of the bride; and Frank and Patricia Gruscavage, godparents of the groom.
The bride was honored at a “Let the Adventure Begin” travel-themed display shower hosted by the mother of the bride, mother of the groom, and bridal attendants at the Fox Hill County Club, Exeter.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at The Café, Wilkes-Barre. An evening cocktail hour and reception were held at the Lackawanna Station Radisson, Scranton. A private send-off brunch was held the following morning at the Radisson, hosted by the parents of the bride.
The bride is a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School and Marywood University with a bachelor’s degree in English secondary education. The bride recently graduated from Towson University with a master’s degree in human resource development educational leadership track. She is currently employed as a high school English teacher with the Baltimore County Public Schools.
The groom is a graduate of Valley View High School and Marywood University with a degree in communication arts in digital media and broadcast production, with a minor in journalism. He is currently employed as a photojournalist for Sinclair Broadcasting at the local Fox affiliate WBFF in Baltimore, Maryland. Brian was recently honored with 3- Emmy awards and 3- Associated Press awards. Previously, he worked as a photojournalist for the local ABC affiliate WNEP, in Moosic.
Following a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple will reside in Baltimore, Maryland.
