Bernie and Linda (Corsano) McDade will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 2, 2017.
First meeting at St. Leo’s High School in 1970, the pair attended and graduated from Bishop Hoban High School, Class of 1972. After high school they continued their education and their relationship.
Bernie, son of the late Bernard and Ann “Honey” McDade, from Sugar Notch, received his bachelor’s degree in education from King’s College. Linda, daughter of the late Michael and Loretta Corsano, from Ashley, earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in nursing from Misericordia University.
They married in 1977 at St. Leo’s church, in Ashley, and spent their honeymoon in Hawaii.
Linda chose her cousin, Cathie (Corsano) Howard as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Clare (McDade) Gildea, Mary Jo (McDade) Savidge, Patti (Parrish) Del Gaudio, Nancy (Pastusczak) Roberts, Donna (Latzman) Kemper and Michalene (Gildea) Sandore.
Bernie chose his friend, Joseph Yenchak as his best man. Groomsmen were Joseph and John Castrigano, John Barrett, James Bobeck, Robert Mahoney and Kevin Lenahan.
Bernie started his career as a teacher at St. Leo’s Elementary School. After the school closed, he ended his teaching career but began a long and successful career in the pharmaceutical sales industry. He would go on to work for GlaxoSmithKline as a pharmaceutical sales rep for over 20- years and most recently works for Sunovion Pharmaceuticals as a senior therapeutic specialist.
Linda has also had a long and successful career as a registered nurse and nursing instructor, most recently working as the director of student health services at Marywood University.
The McDades have lived in Sugar Notch for the past 40- years and raised three children who could not be more proud and gracious of their parents: Erin and her husband, Corey; Bernie and his wife, Ali, and Katie and her husband, Chris. They are blessed with two grandchildren, Samuel and Blake, who love their “Ga-ga and Boppy” very much.
The McDade’s will celebrate their anniversary with close family this weekend followed by a trip to Ireland and Scotland in the fall.
