Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Shinko, of Wilkes-Barre, are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today, Oct. 1, 2017. They were married on Oct. 1, 1977, in St. Judes Church, Mountain Top, by the former Rev. James Jacobs.

Mrs. Shinko is the former Patti Muskas, daughter of Tony and Maureen Muskas, of Mountain Top.

Stan is the son of the late Stanley and Helen Shinko, of Mountain Top.

The couple has two sons, Stanley III and Jason, and a daughter-in-law, Heather. They have two grandpuppies, Missy and Coco.

Stan works for the City of Wilkes-Barre as a firefighter and for the STA Bus Company, and prior to that, was a union ironworker with Local 489.

Patti works for STA Bus Company as a school van driver and previously was a kindergarten aide for 25 years at various schools including St. Nicholas/St Marys, the YMCA, Happy Days Preschool/Kindergarten (co-owner) and Dan Flood Elementary in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.

The couple will have a blessing of their marriage by the Rev. John Terry at Our Lady of Hope, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, followed by a family luncheon at Pasquales.

They also celebrated with a trip to Disney World this past summer.
